As a continued effort from European Waste Reduction Week, Chiswick House School held a second preloved uniform sale in December. A total of €1197 was collected to be divided between Żibel and The ‘Grow 10 Trees’ Project.
3kg of CO2 is saved for each high or medium quality piece of clothing reused and only 0.01% of the water used to produce new clothing is required for reuse.
This means we saved 720kgs of CO2 and approx 720000L of water as a school.
Regrettably, around 62% of used clothing and textiles end up in household waste, meaning valuable textiles are likely to be incinerated or land-filled.
