SMC library awarded a ‘Book Champion School 2019 - Gold Award’ Certificate St Martin’s College was presented with a ‘Book Champion School 2019 – Gold Award’ certificate as well as book tokens in acknowledgment and recognition of the activities organised during the year to promote and create a holistic reading culture. The Literacy and Information Support Unit within the National Literacy Agency has organised these awards as part of a nationwide campaign to promote reading in schools.

Level 9 student places 1st in the ‘Bookface Competition’ We are very pleased to announce that Alessio Trapani, a Level 9 student, placed 1st in the ‘Bookface Competition’ organised by the Literacy and Information Support Unit within the National Literacy Agency. Mock job interviews for Sixth Form students

Mock job interviews for Sixth Form students Four members of staff of PwC Malta recently conducted mock job interviews for St Martin’s College Sixth Form students. The aim of these interviews is to help students experience a real-life job interview and help them prepare for the world of work. Students attended a preparatory meeting and were asked to present their CVs and covering letters during the mock interview itself. Individual feedback will be provided to the students during the follow-up session which will be held next week.  St Martin’s College Sixth Form is committed to developing the skills that young people require for the modern workplace. This exercise, organised by Ms Eleanor Abela, the College’s Career Adviser, helps our students build the confidence they need in an interview situation. The College would like to thank PwC Malta for providing our students with the unique opportunity and for their valuable advice and support.

Langfest

Langfest Our Annual celebration of international languages and cultures. During the week, students participated in a number of activities including karaoke, sports games, a quiz, an International Language t-shirt competition, a treasure hunt as well as talks related to the importance of studying foreign languages. The week culminated in a food festival which was hugely successful, both in terms of the wonderful array of homemade contributions from students as well as the number of students who were eager to sample the variety of treats on offer! The funds raised during this event will be donated to St Vincent de Paule, St Patrick’s Home and Dar Bjorn. We thank parents, students and staff for making this initiative so successful. Sixth Form students visit Alf Mizzi & Sons (Marketing) Group A group of first-year students studying Marketing at Advanced Level at St Martin’s College Sixth Form, visited Alf Mizzi & Sons (Marketing) Group. After touring the various warehouses and departments, the students were briefed about marketing techniques and strategies. It was a very informative visit particularly because the students cover topics such as branding, distribution, logistics and intermediaries as part of their preparations for the Marketing MATSEC examination.

Book Week at CHS

Book Week at CHS As part of Book Week, held at Chiswick House School, pupils were invited to come to school dressed up as their favourite character from a book and to bring one of their well-loved books along for our 'Drop Everything and Read' activity. Pupils participated in several activities throughout the week including a reading session by Level 5 pupils to Level 1 pupils, Level 4 pupils designed new covers for their favourite books, Level 3 pupils participated in a fairy tale quiz and Level 1 and 2 pupils enjoyed a library scavenger hunt.

Rock The House 2019

Rock The House 2019 A last minute venue change, due to bad weather, saw staff, students and family members unite to relocate the setup planned for our evening performance of ‘Rock The House 2019’. The concert went on and the performers were brilliant! A massive well done to all for putting together this much-awaited show. Setbacks and all, the students sure did rock the house! This year's show was done in collaboration with SOPA.
