NACE

NACE Ms Barbara Firth, the National Association for Able Children in Education, U.K. (NACE) consultant for St Martin's College, visited the school virtually and assessed the progress being made. Her focus was on the work being done by the school to assist Higher Achievers in reaching their potential. Her report was very encouraging, identifying our many areas of growth and highlighting our on-going improvements. These improvements are fast becoming a whole school approach to teaching and learning, which will benefit all students, not only Higher Achievers. It is also a ray of hope in these difficult times. We are energized by the impact it is having on our learners and how it continues to fuel our resolve to extend our variety of teaching and learning strategies to suit current needs.

This is a great opportunity for our learners to practise their letter writing skills, handwriting or typing skills, learn about a new culture, make friends and be creative.

Learners’ Achievements

Learners’ Achievements At St Martin’s College we believe in the full support and celebration of our learners’ achievements in all fields, even in non-formal and informal education. This year we have started to present an award to the student who has shown consistent and strong levels of achievement throughout the years while keeping up with the in-school academic commitment at the same time. Our first award this year went to Ms Valentina Marchi who graduated Level 11 this July and who showed an incredible level of achievement in the discipline of synchronised swimming for many years. This discipline requires many hours of daily training and thus makes the added effort of keeping up with the academic side that much harder. Valentina did this excellently, with a smile and successfully. We wish her every success in synchronised swimming and her studies and thank her for being an inspiration to many young learners aspiring to be as gifted and talented as she is. WELL DONE VALE!

SMC Library Service

SMC Library Service BORROW BOOKS FROM SMC LIBRARY – USE THE ‘EMAIL AND COLLECT’ SERVICE. Although students cannot physically browse for books due to the risk-reduction protocols in place, they can still secure all the reading material that they require through the ‘email and collect’ service that was introduced in summer. All they have to do is to send an email to the Librarian requesting particular book titles, or authors, or describing their preferred genres. Books are chosen according to the students’ preferences and a package is prepared for them to collect. Returned books undergo a quarantine period of 72 hours before being processed or passed on to other students.
