Sixth Form Online Discussion

Sixth Form Online Discussion Level 12 and 13 students studying History at Advanced level at St Martin’s College Sixth Form, had the opportunity to have an online discussion with Adrian Szumski, who was born and raised in Poland. Mr Szumski shared with our learners some popular and his own personal experiences of Poland during the Martial Law lockdown of the early 1980s and the steps the country took towards 1989 to peacefully adopt a more democratic approach to politics. Live Streaming Trial Week at CHSMC

Live Streaming Trial Week at CHSMC We are delighted with the outcome of our 'Live Streaming Trial Week'. During this trial week most learners at Chiswick House School and St Martin’s College reunited with one or more of their teachers within a virtual classroom setting using Microsoft Teams. This successful Trial Period allowed us to ensure that all technical difficulties are resolved before our launch of the full Live Streaming programme at both CHS and SMC at the start of the third term. All staff members at CHSMC have worked tirelessly during these last few weeks to continue providing students with quality tasks to ensure that learning and then deeper learning continues to take place. We continue to focus on upskilling all our teaching staff to be able to use a wide range of online resources. New timetables have been put together for all learners and will be shared with all parents soon. The proposed e-learning programme will engage learners at all levels, including Sixth Form, in a blended and balanced approach of real time sessions as well as other tasks. Whilst we wish you all the very best during this Easter break, we look forward to sharing with you our new plans soon! Keep well and stay safe!

Autism Awareness Month

A message from Ms Cynthia Rizzo and Ms Maria Ellul, CHS and SMC Inclusive Coordinators (INCO): Autism is a lifelong, developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them. Their quality of life improves with professional assistance but also with the support of each and every one of us. The first phase is to be aware, understand and accept people with autism. Following this, one can also help with a smile and a helping hand.

Spots of Time

Spots of Time A wonderful initiative named Spots of Time has been set up by our Well-Being Team at St Martin’s College. This is what the team said: We hope that you are all well despite the challenges and difficulties that we are all facing at the moment. As the Well-Being Team at St Martin’s College, we are aware that each of you is going through your own struggles in different ways and we want to be available to support you as best as we can, even for the smallest of issues you might be encountering and wish to share. We have therefore decided to set up an initiative called Spots of Time in which our counsellors, together with other members from the well-being team are going to be available for one-to-one sessions via video calling, phone call, text or email, as the person prefers. This will allow everyone to interact in the way they feel most comfortable. During these 30 minute sessions, we will offer guidance, support and coaching to those of you who wish to make use of this service. Well done to the team! ❤️
