School Leaving Ceremony

School Leaving ceremony St Martin’s College Sixth Form celebrated its annual school leaving ceremony last week. Level 13 students received certificates and special awards. These were presented to the students, in the presence of their families and College staff, by Dr Duncan Mifsud, a past student of St Martin’s College Sixth Form. Dr Mifsud has very recently completed a PhD in Molecular Astrophysics and during the ceremony he discussed his career path and provided our students with inspirational advice as they continue their academic journey. Mr Anthony Abela, Senior Leader Sixth Form, explained how St Martin’s College strives to provide the best possible learning opportunities for all its students and stressed the importance of measuring success through the value that each one can contribute to the lives of others. Ms Bernie Mizzi, Director, Chiswick House School and St Martin’s College, presented the students with their well-earned certificates. Congratulations to all Level 13 students!

ECSITE 2023 conference

ECSITE 2023 conference Two of our educators Mr Kirsten and Ms Clarisse attended the ECSITE 2023 conference organised by ECSITE and ESPLORA. ECSITE is a community of science communicators which share ideas, and network to educate, inspire and communicate science to the masses to inspire a better tomorrow. The three day conference consisted of a number of talks and meet ups with science educators, science centres and even museums from across the globe with various speakers from NEMO, National Geographic and even the national history museums found across Europe. Mr Kirsten and Ms Clarisse had the opportunity to network with many other professionals from the scientific field and brainstorm exciting new opportunities for our students. Ms Clarisse also held a session on using Virtual Reality to inspire and teach Science.

European Youth Event (EYE) 2023

European Youth Event (EYE) 2023 St Martin’s College Sixth Form students, Celeste Tan Panza and Alex Rossi, attended the European Youth Event (EYE) 2023 which was held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg last week. This event brought together thousands of young people from all over the European Union to share and shape their ideas on Europe’s future. It was a unique opportunity for our students to participate in engaging events, as well as interact and exchange their views and opinions with experts and decision-makers. Celeste described her experience as particularly memorable. “It was especially interesting for me to meet Dr Roberta Metsola, the President of the European Parliament. I also enjoyed meeting other people from all over Europe and learning about their cultures and systems. The experience also helped me to understand the amount of opportunities available for young people all over the world,” said Celeste.

Level 5 College Visit

Level 5 College Visit In preparation for their transition to St Martin’s College, Level 5 learners visited and toured the College yesterday. This visit was then followed by a Sports Day in the college pitches. Pupils sang the creed, read out the Chiswick House School sportsmanship oath and sang the Maltese national anthem. They then made their way to the various stations consisting of individual and group activities. Well done to all who participated and we thank all parents who joined us.

Sicily Trip

Sicily Trip St Martin's College Italian Languages Team organised educational trips to Sicily for Level 8, 9 and 10 students who are studying Italian. The aim of these days trips was to further enhance students’ communication skills in Italian as well as give them an opportunity to experience sections of the Italian/Mediterranean historical and social culture. Students visited Parcallario Adventure Park, located in south-eastern Sicily where they experienced a breath-taking adventure in the beautiful setting of the Hyblaean Mountains. They also visited Syracuse after lunch. The group were able to experience Sicilian culture and further understood the island’s importance in Mediterranean history. What a fun way to learn! A truly memorable experience!

2023 Global FinCap Challenge Congratulations to our Level 10 students for their outstanding achievement in winning the 2023 Global FinCap Challenge. The team came up with a fantastic app called Malteasy that benefits both tourists as well as local producers. Level 11 Graduation Ceremony

Level 11 Graduation Ceremony Yesterday we held our Level 11 Graduation Ceremony, a wonderful farewell to our Level 11 cohort. Prize winners were awarded for their marked effort, achievement and special qualities. Our School Leaving Certificates as well as the Secondary School Certificates and Profiles were also distributed during the ceremony. These certificates and profiles represent their academic achievements and serve as a symbol of their educational journey. A heartfelt appreciation goes to staff, parents, and students who attended the ceremony and contributed to its success. Their support and involvement create a sense of community and make these events truly memorable. Congratulations to our graduates. We wish you all success and happiness in your future endeavours. The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) Awards We are proud to announce that Chiswick House School was chosen, as one of the finalists in the schools’ category, at The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) Awards held yesterday. Well done to St Nicholas College Secondary who were awarded first place. WasteServ awarded the best actions from the 2022 edition which was themed ‘Circular and Sustainable Textiles’. The annual European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) brings together schools, public administrations, companies, NGOs and citizens from across Europe who are united by the same goal: promoting awareness-raising activities on sustainable resource and waste management. Maesteg Trip

Maesteg Trip " A creative life is an amplified life..." (Elizabeth Gilbert) Helo o Gaerdydd Ms Audrey Fenech Adami, Ms Roberta Camenzuli and Mr Francesco Nicodeme travelled to Wales to spend time at St Mary's & St Patrick's school in Maesteg participating in an interactive creative morning with children and staff. Since 2014 Wales has been adopting a creative pedagogy on a national scale. Ideas and interesting conversations were exchanged as they discussed their views on the benefits that a creative curriculum and mindset could have on all aspects of children's academic and overall wellbeing. We would like to thank the Arts Council of Wales for their welcoming visit. Special thanks to St Mary & St Patrick's School staff for their warm welcome and hospitality.
