Level 10s engaged in an intriguing debate about the influence of social media on social interactions, while our Sixth Formers delved into the ramifications of artificial intelligence on creativity. Special gratitude to the incredible mentor who guided our debaters, Ms Pia, and to Mr Jean-Marc, Mr Julian, Ms Maria and Ms Angela for their organisational skills! Your collective efforts ensured a seamless and captivating event. Malta Junior Science Olympiad

Malta Junior Science Olympiad We are very pleased to announce that St Martin’s College, represented by Catriona Jo Buhagiar, Amber De Brincat and Lara Schembri, won second placed in the Malta Junior Science Olympiad (MJSO). This annual initiative, organised by the Science Centre, targets gifted students in Biology, Chemistry and Physics from different schools across Malta and Gozo. The team, nominated by our SMC Science Department, worked together to tackle hands-on investigations. It's a remarkable achievement and a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaborative efforts of our students. Well done girls!

Prize Day

Prize Day St Martin’s College Prize Day was organised at Chiswick House School last Thursday, in which students were awarded for their efforts, improvements or outstanding achievements. Prizes were awarded for placing first, second or third in any one particular subject, while a number of special prizes were also awarded for qualities such as leadership, resilience, community spirit, altruism, and sport. During the ceremony students and parents were entertained by a number of outstanding performances by SMC students. Senior School Student prizes were this year distributed by Prof Keith Sacco, Associate Professor of Medicine Allergist, Immunologist and a CHSMC alumnus, whilst Dr Esmeralda Zerafa and Bertrand Bonnici presented the prizes for Middle School Students. We congratulate all students for their wonderful achievements. We would also like to thank staff, students and parents who attended and helped in the organisation of such a successful and gratifying event!

The International Bebras Challenge

The International Bebras Challenge The International Bebras Challenge on Informatics is an annual computer science competition for primary and secondary school students around the world, focused on promoting computational thinking. With 54 member countries and more than 2.5 million participating students, the competition is the largest computer science competition in the world. This year, 30 students from levels 6, 9 and 10 participated and the results were outstanding, having 85% of our students scoring in the nineties percentiles. Special mention to Valeria Barbara and Timmy Balzan from Level 6 who scored the highest in the world in their category. Well done!

Commemorative Event

Commemorative Event St Martin’s College held a commemorative event to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the first publication of Shakespeare’s First Folio in 1623. The event, ably led by Ms Kathleen Vella, Learning Area Leader for English, was attended by students, parents, staff and guests. Recitals of several letters, dedications and eulogies to Shakespeare, and performances from original Shakespearean songs were presented. Prizes were also awarded to the winners of the wonderful exhibits on display which provided a visual representation of the students' engagement with Shakespeare's works. During the Shakespearean Tribute our most distinguished guests – from the Department of English, within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta, Professors Ivan Callus and Maria Frendo, enthralled all in attendance with their inspiring presentations on William Shakespeare. The event included artefacts and exhibits by Level 10 students which will be visited over the coming weeks by all students at St Martin’s College. The exhibition was inaugurated by Ms Bernie Mizzi, College Director who also made available over ten short films (Shakespearean plays adaptations) produced by the college over the past 25 years. Well done to all for putting together this wonderful event that successfully demonstrates a creative and interactive way of engaging with Shakespeare’s works.

Anti-Bullying week

Anti-Bullying week During Anti-Bullying week, pupils participated in various activities providing them with valuable insights into different aspects of bullying, such as understanding, preventing, and responding to it. We also emphasized that "Every child is valued not only during this week but every day". This serves as a powerful reminder of our ongoing commitment to promoting a positive and supportive atmosphere within our school community.

Movement Week

Movement Week Last week we celebrated Movement Week at Chiswick House School. The aim of Movement Week is to further promote the importance of exercise, a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. All classes from Bumble Bees to Level 5 participated in several activities planned throughout the week. Activities included short movement breaks held in class every day throughout the week, dance sessions led by College of Dance Instructors, basketball sessions led by Depiro, handball sessions led by Sports Malta Coaches as well as a Skipping Rope session led by an instructor. A massive thank you to all staff who organised this wonderful week. Keep up the great work and may the positive energy from Movement Week continue to inspire healthy habits among the pupils and staff.

Sports Fests

Sports Fests Last week our Level 6 and Level 8 students participated in their annual Sports Fests which took place during the first 3 lessons. The festivals consisted of a number of races (shoe race, sack race, 3-legged race and target games) and ended with the most loved and popular tug-of-war. We look forward to our Level 7 Sports Fest being held on Friday. Well done to all!

Eco-Schools National Awards Julia Bartolo Parnis and Hannah Zammit together with Mr Paul attended the Eco-Schools National Awards this morning. We are proud to announce that our school has been awarded our 1st Green Flag. We have satisfied the international quality criteria of the Eko Skola programme for Education for Sustainable Development. This shows our schools’ commitment to environmental sustainability.
