Spots of Time

Spots of Time A wonderful initiative named Spots of Time has been set up by our Well-Being Team at St Martin’s College. This is what the team said: We hope that you are all well despite the challenges and difficulties that we are all facing at the moment. As the Well-Being Team at St Martin’s College, we are aware that each of you is going through your own struggles in different ways and we want to be available to support you as best as we can, even for the smallest of issues you might be encountering and wish to share. We have therefore decided to set up an initiative called Spots of Time in which our counsellors, together with other members from the well-being team are going to be available for one-to-one sessions via video calling, phone call, text or email, as the person prefers. This will allow everyone to interact in the way they feel most comfortable. During these 30 minute sessions, we will offer guidance, support and coaching to those of you who wish to make use of this service. Well done to the team! ❤️

Media Literacy

Media Literacy As we prepare for Level 8 learners to select Options for their Secondary Years, we are also preparing for engaging lessons in the Summer Term. Watch this space for some more examples. Professional Learning Professional learning is currently underway as Level 1 to Level 5 teams are being further trained in the use of virtual teaching platforms for enhanced online learning experiences for all our pupils.

CHSMC Community Good morning to our wonderful CHSMC Community, We wish to thank you wholeheartedly for all the lovely comments you have sent through our different channels of communication. The warmth and appreciation you have shown all our teams has most definitely continued to fuel our energy in order to continue pursuing our new online learning experience with great enthusiasm, to ensure that quality learning continues for all our pupils. We also wish to thank all those parents who have sent us feedback on how we can continue to improve our communication and e-learning programme. Keep well and keep safe.

Virtually Connected All our teams at every level in every department have been virtually connected over the last few days to ensure that over the next 9 days our learners get a comprehensive plan for learning to continue at a steady pace and in a meaningful way.

id Schoolgear - Shutdown "In view of the developments relating to the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) we believe that it is our responsibility to reduce the possibility of exposure to our staff, our customers and our partners. We will be suspending all operations from Friday 13th March to Sunday 22nd March, both days inclusive. Our outlets will be closed for business, but we can still be contacted via our normal e-mail channels [email protected] and [email protected] and on Facebook. We will advise if there is any need to extend this shutdown due to further developments. We encourage everybody to stay safe and keep following official guidelines and to avoid unnecessary contact, especially with the most vulnerable. Thank you for your understanding"

Professional Learning

Professional Learning Closing down the school has not stopped professional learning taking place! On Friday, as was in our plans, the Level 1 team had a session with Dr Charmaine Bonello, B & B Early Years consultant, about planning for project based learning within an Emergent curriculum approach. All staff found this very fruitful and have used this new learning when designing the e-learning programme which will shortly be sent to all our Level 1 pupils. All our teams at every level in every department have planned for the next 9 days and shall soon be updating our CHSMC community.

UPDATE – SCHOOL CLOSURE

UPDATE - SCHOOL CLOSURE Dear CHSMC Community, Following the Prime Minister’s press conference this afternoon please note that our schools will also be closed as from tomorrow. We will still be closed for the following two weeks as previously announced in our last update. We will of course, inform you should there be any further decisions. We will continue to keep you abreast of all developments, including those that relate to learning. SCHOOL CLOSURE Dear CHSMC Community, We are very pleased to report that so far, and as far as we know, all our CHSMC Community is COVID-19 symptom-free. However, the CHSMC Board of Directors has taken a decision to close the schools down for 2 weeks from Monday 16th March 2020, given the current situation. Please note that the school will run as usual today Thursday 12th March and tomorrow Friday 13th March 2020.
